I am very happy with my Elinchrom studio strobes. In this shot I used one soft box as a background and another one as key light. Lastolite Trigrip reflector provided extra light under the chin. All triggered with Skyport.

The motorized focusing rail from Cognisys-Inc makes macro shots a breeze. Just set-up the starting position, focus, ending position and step size. Then press the button and several photos later you have enough source material to feed to Helicon Focus. The software, as ever obliging, spits out nice, sharp photos using all the frames you captured. Nice.

Another Lumodi Shot

I am really getting into this stuff. In this photo the diffuser sock has been removed from the dish. The light has a different quality, doesn’t it? And these sweet black backgrounds are so easy to achieve.

Lumodi 14″ Rulez

The beauty dish from Lumodi came in the mail. I just had to try it out. Notice the quality of light, the spill control, the reflection in the eyes. It all adds up to one hot photo. I will definitely use this modifier more often.

Another one from the FX holy trinity has found its way into my photo bag. This is a monster. I think I will have to start going to a gym for a practice. I kid you not. The camera lens combo is like 3.5kg. Anyway, the results more than make for the inconvenience. SWEET!!!!!!

The bokeh Machine has arrived

Nikon Mirror Slap and Other Mysterious Goings-on

If you ever wondered what is happening inside your DSLR when you press that shutter button, this is the video to watch. What I find quite interesting is that you can observe the mirror slap and its vibration as well as the behavior of the aperture blades and shutter curtain. It never occurred to me how fragile they are. Just watch them move and vibrate.

It was such a good session

Another one from my last photo session. Most if not all of the shots are keepers. Like this one. And there is not that much that I have to do in Lightroom. I set-up the camera to ‘Camera Neutral’ and selected the same camera profile in LR. Now when I import my photos I can see ever so slight change, when the thumbnails are regenerated. Before the observed change was much bigger. I guess it means that I ended up with LR setting that match closely my D700
