DPR Challenge #64 – Runner Up

As mentionned in this post, I submitted the photo below to the 64th DPR Challenge. I am happy to report that I’ve been included in the ‘Runner Up’ category. Here is what the judge had to say about my entry -

I have repeated many times that I am kind of anti-jumble. This is the one exception. There is every imaginable shape in here including the Golden Arches. Don’t ask me why it works, but it does. I really like it.

Off-camera flash

I was playing with off-camera flash (SB-800) triggered by SU-800. I like the effect where the background is completely black. What puzzles me, and I have asked this question before on DPR Forums, why the EXIF reports that no flash has been fired. I know it has. PP’d in Lightroom 2.1RC1.

Dark Smoker

A very beautiful portrait. Perfect interplay of light and shadow. I remember commenting on it when I first saw it on DPR. I see a lot of facial similarities between Amy Winehouse and the model in this photo.
