I’ve been so busy setting up my new iMac that I did not have much time for photography lately. Today, my better half draged me out from behind the computer to go shopping with her. I just thought this would give me an excuse to go and check out the Apple store in Glatt centre. That I did and as a result I am thinking now of adding a TV tuner to my setup. Anyway, while there, I took this snapshot with the iPhone. This would have to do until I recover from 4am trysts with iMac.

and have a proper camera with you. I was driving home one sunny afternoon. The light was just perfect to show off the contrast between the sun-lit road and the stormy clouds. As I did not have my Nikon with me, I took this photo with my iPhone. Believe me – it is not easy to drive and take photos at the same time. No, I have not caused any accidents due to my activity, next time however, I will try to pull over at the side of the road and milk this beautiful light for all I can with a proper camera and lens.

I have used the same old mobile for last 4 years and when the new iPhone 3G was announced I said to myself – this is the time to move with the times and upgrade. Come 11th of July I was lucky enough to get one despite the limited number of devices being delivered to the shops in Switzerland.

First impressions — love the user interface, features are OK as well. Being able to surf the net, in what is like normal browser, is fantastic. Being able to check, reply to and send new email is even better. Even though I was able to do it to a certain extent on my old phone (Sony-Ericsson), I never warmed up to the idea due to a very small screen.

iPhone on the other hand has a screen that is a real pleasure to use. Camera is so-so, but I did not buy this phone for its camera anyway. If I want to take real photos I use my Nikon.

Given the much touted Internet connectivity of iPhone, I decided to take a photo during my lunch break and post it to my Flickr™ photostream. All worked as advertised. No problems, hiccups or glitches. The photo quality leaves a lot to be desired but for quick snaps capturing some unexpected event (like your cuppa running out) it is good enough. And the ability to post it instantly to your Flickr photostream to let the whole world know about your misfortune is priceless.
