This Lightroom plugin (there is also a version for Apple Aperture and Adobe Photoshop). It allows you to do B&W conversion and simulate various film stock from the days gone by. It also has control points like Nikon’s Capture NX. After all it’s been done by the same people.
Here is a photo I took the other day. Used remote flash, camera left, triggered by CLS. After importing it to Lightroom, I converted it to B&W using SilverEfex Pro. Here is the result. I have a feeling that this software will become my friend for a long time.

This photo has been taken hand held at 1600 ISO using available light. Slight PP in LR to remove noise, some sharpening and we are ready to upload to Flickr. In reality I’m just testing how much time I need between an actual shot and the moment the photo is uploaded to Flickr.

Today, my better half draged me out from behind the computer to go shopping with her. I just thought this would give me an excuse to go and check out the Apple store in Glatt centre. That I did and as a result I am thinking now of adding a TV tuner to my setup. Anyway, while there, I took this snapshot with the iPhone. This would have to do until I recover from 4am trysts with iMac.

What a difference. It just makes you drop everything and start re-doing your old photos that you thought were perfect. To make matters worse, I have the old computer and its screen next to the iMac (not a permanent situation). One just cannot escape making comparisons between the two. It is easy to guess which one is the winner. Just follow my iMac Chronicles to see what has happened (will be updated shortly as I was busy setting my iMac up).
